6 Simple Ways to dramatically improve your Professional Image

If you’re having trouble keeping your clients, it might be time to re-evaluate your professional image and give it a facelift.

You might be sending the wrong message to your clients without even realizing it!

Messages like: I’m an amateur, I’m unorganized or I don’t care about your needs.

Mistakes like these can be quite costly, even devastating for your business.

Here are 6 simple things you can do to dramatically improve your Professional Image:

#1. FIND YOUR STYLE

Building a strong brand will translate into a strong business. Therefore, as a business owner, it’s especially important to make sure your brand is strong, unique and represents your business well.

Your unique brand is what makes you stand out from the crowd and it’s what your clients remember. Embrace your uniqueness, and your clients will embrace it too.

#2. CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET

Metaphorically speaking, don’t wait for a rainy day – clean out your closet and get rid of clutter.

Think about it: does your outfit while at work represent your brand? Are you sharp and polished? Is your outfit inviting and professional?

  • Update your look, and come up with wardrobe options that fit in with your brand and personal style
  • Celebrities like Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Pink all have a unique style – their looks are well planned and distinct because they are representing their brand
  • Your style is like a walking, talking business card – it’s the first thing your clients see, so make it count.

#3. CLEAN UP YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE

If you haven’t already, sign-up for a Facebook Business Page. Running your business from your Personal Page is not only unprofessional but it also gives your clients the wrong impression about you right away.

Already have a Facebook Business page? Great! It’s time to go through each post, photo, and comment – delete everything unrelated to your business and brand.

#4. BE MATURE

DO: Always be polite and courteous – never react angrily towards an upset or rude client. The same applies to your co-workers.

Be upfront about issues as they come up and be open to discussions and compromises.

We understand that life happens, but keep a positive attitude at work. A smile will go a long way, and can even turn a bad day around. Your clients will soon be commenting that you are always smiling and cheerful.

Use your downtime to relax, refresh, hit the gym or spend time with friends☺

#5. BE CONSISTENT

Be punctual, welcome your clients by name and strive to deliver great service every time.

#6. LISTEN

Listening is a skill that takes practice to develop, but if you truly listen to your clients and remember small details, you will stand out and your clients will feel valued.

Always start with a consultation if you’re meeting a client for the first time. Take some time to get to know them, ask them how they feel about their hair and how they want it to look. Also ask about their home hair care routine, as this can be a good indicator of whether their hair is damaged and if you’ll need to help them repair it.

If your client shares details of their life with you, take note of it and bring it up for a future appointment.

Don’t risk making mistakes over miscommunication as it could cost you a great client!
